Dreamy Folk

Marla & David Celia

Inspired by traveling the world, 20-years old Marla processes her lost love in her songs, softly picked on her acoustic guitar. Her mellow dreamy melodies accompanied by her airy deep voice remind of artists like Nick Drake and Jessica Pratt. After touring with David Celia in Germany early 2015, she decided to record her debut album in Toronto with him as producer and sideman. David is an innovative singer/songwriter and astonishing guitar player, known for his spontaneously driven live performances. His songs have an open alt/folk style that’s also been described as “Beatlesque”.

Her upcoming debut album ‘Madawaska Valley’, recorded in Toronto, will be released via Melting Pot Music, a record label in Cologne. Even though Marla sang her whole life, she never considered being a musician. As her sister quit the guitar, Marla picked it and covered songs until she started writing her own songs around the age of 15. Besides the fact she played classical cello since she was 6, she grew up with no musical background in her family. Addicted to live shows in her young age, she crossed Robert Francis way, her biggest influence on music back then. From then on she knew, she would want to touch people through music same as he and many others did. In the last three years she has routinely performed in some of the best concert houses around her hometown, opening for artists like Jessica Pratt, Spring Offensive, Ewert & The Two Dragons and Rue Royale. Also aspiring to be recognized as a songwriter, her latest tunes are catching up with her stunning voice and intriguing personality.
