Pocket Knife Army

POCKET KNIFE ARMY UNFOLDED Indie electronic pop As small as a pocket knife, but as big as an army. When this duo from Utrecht (The Netherlands) unfold their instruments on a stage you wouldn't believe it's just the two of them. With roots in rock music and a love for electronic music their style is unique and intriguing. It's not possible to frame them into one genre. Some say they sound like the electronic equivalent of The White Stripes (Analogue Trash UK), others compare them to Kate Bush. The truth lies in the middle, but feel invited to listen for yourself and form your own opinion.

Hailing from Utrecht, The Netherlands, Pocket Knife Army is the project of Desirée Coumans (vocals, looper, acoustic guitar) and Erwin Tuijl (synths and programming, electric guitar). They’ve created a style of their own by combining expressive vocals with electronics, keeping clear focus on the live experience. Each song is a world on it’s own, with sometimes extreme shifts in dynamics. After a 4 track EP in 2014 Pocket Knife Army released their debut album “This Time I’ll Come out Unharmed” in the fall of 2015. Pocket Knife Army sounds like the lovechild of Thom Yorke and Imogen Heap, with the members of Portishead as uncles and aunts.
